The Narcissistic Abuser : Scandal

This is vulnerable for me to share, but to somewhat comprehend what severe domestic violence and actual abuse does to a person, and what an abuser looks like; this scene is as close as I can find.

21:10 – 23:00 | Scandal | Season 4 : Episode 7

Abusers often wear a suit and tie; not always showing who they are until too late. To the blind, evil shows its hand quickly as it knows it is less likely to be caught; to the strong, evil slowly infects its victims until consuming them. In the show she was with this man for years and he brutally abused her to near death, she escaped. He’s upset that her friend is opposing him for election.

“You know… You look good… I kinda missed you. If I wasn’t married we could have fun huh?”

‘No, no, no we couldn’t’

“You’re not still holding a grudge are you?”

‘A grudge? Am I… What?’

“Look this election is important to me. Yeah, our marriage wasn’t perfect, so I may have lost my temper a couple of times…”

‘I’m lucky to be Alive’

“It’s always a blame game with you…”

“We had a passionate relationship.“

“Move on. Let it go already.”

I hope you see the narcissistic manipulation like “blame game” and “move on” / “let it go already” because that wording is the actual con game. Being abused is a traumatic muscle memory that never truly leaves us. If we could move on, I promise we would. But even when we face the darkness, our weapon of defending ourselves trembles in our hands. We are torn in places even we can’t see. PTSD is real. Evil will often blame the victim they abuse by pretending to be the victim themselves.

She pulls out a gun to him, as he tries to persuade her to take his side in the election.

‘I’m gonna shoot you, and when people ask me why, I’ll tell them it’s because you used to beat the crap out of me. And that’s what’s made me so messed up. That’s what was made me so lonely. That’s what’s stolen all my chances for normal with every single guy I’ve ever… Or maybe I’ll just tell them you attacked me, and I went crazy and shot you in the face. Either way, chalk it up to PTSD Chip.’

Her gun begins to tremble as he walks away. Because, that is how it feels to stand up for yourself when no one else does.

Normal is gone. Normal no longer lives there.
